Jodi and Steve in front of one of the ATLAS Detector muon wheels.

The ATLAS Detector is an 8-story-tall, 50-yard-long particle imaging system capable of taking a 100 megapixel image 40 million times per second. It is used to capture images of what the universe looked like just billionths of a second after it came into existence, so that we can better understand the laws and composition of the entire cosmos.
